DotActive (“we,” “our,” or “us”) is developed by Slant Forge. We are committed to protecting your privacy and being transparent about how we handle your data. This Privacy Policy explains what information DotActive accesses, how we use it, and your rights regarding your data.
The Short Version
- Your health data never leaves your device. All workout data from Apple Health is processed locally.
- No account required. We don't collect your email, name, or any personal identifiers.
- No data sold. We never sell, rent, or share your personal data with third parties.
- Minimal analytics. We collect anonymous usage statistics to improve the app.
Health Data (Apple Health)
DotActive requests read-only access to your workout data stored in Apple Health. This access is entirely optional—you control what data the app can see through iOS Health permissions.
What We Access
- Workout records (type, date, and duration)
How We Use It
- To display your activity as dots on the year grid
- To calculate your total active days
- To generate shareable images (at your request)
Where It's Stored
Nowhere but your device. Health data is read from Apple Health when you open the app and is held only in temporary memory. We do not write health data to any database, server, or persistent storage. When you close the app, this data is discarded.
Custom Events
When you create custom events (like marking a race or injury), this data is stored locally on your device using iOS's built-in storage. This data never leaves your device and is not synced to any cloud service.
Analytics
We use Firebase Analytics to collect anonymous usage data. This helps us understand how the app is used and identify areas for improvement.
What We Collect
- Screen views (which screens you visit)
- Feature usage (e.g., sharing, year navigation)
- App crashes and errors
- Device type and iOS version
What We Don't Collect
- Any health or workout data
- Personal identifiers (name, email, phone)
- Location data
- Your active days count or patterns
Sharing Features
When you choose to share your year grid, the app generates an image on your device. You control where this image goes—whether that's Instagram, Messages, or your photo library. We have no access to the images you share or where you share them.
Data Retention
- Health data: Not retained. Read on-demand and discarded.
- Custom events: Stored locally until you delete them or uninstall the app.
- Analytics: Retained by Firebase per their data retention policies.
Your Rights
You have full control over your data:
- Revoke access: Disable Health permissions anytime in iOS Settings.
- Delete local data: Uninstalling the app removes all locally stored data.
- Opt out of analytics: Disable analytics via iOS Settings > Privacy > Analytics.
Third-Party Services
DotActive uses the following third-party services:
- Apple Health: For reading workout data (with your permission)
- Firebase Analytics: For anonymous usage statistics
Each service has its own privacy policy. We encourage you to review them.
Children's Privacy
DotActive is not intended for children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any significant changes by updating the “Last updated” date at the top of this page. Continued use of the app after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
